The lotus flower is steeped in symbolism; re-birth in Egypt and victory of the spirit in India. It rises from beneath murky water over a period of time, flowers in the morning and afternoon sun, before sinking below the surface again to repeat this cycle. Flowers from the blue lotus are associated with properties of sedation, aphrodisia and euphoria. Hence, these poems were borne and inspired; in the spirit of awakening, re-birth and victory.
